when my mom makes strawbeery shortcake, she starts with a big bowl of fresh cut strawberries mixed with a little water and a little sugar and then stored in the fridge overnight... I used to wait until everyone went to bed and then I'd sneak into the kitchen and drink all the juice out of the bowl... mmmmmmmmm
