a bit worried...

i have more questions for kitty owners. Last night Kachito was his usual quiet self again. he was very affectionate too. i was watching t.v. and he came and got on my lap and slept there until i got up. afterwards i went to bed and was reading he just cuddled next to me until i turned off the light. it was nice to have kachis back to normal. but then this morning i noticed that he had puked by his litter box...i'm starting to worry. is it normal to for kachis to puke? he seemed to be ok when i left this morning though. should i take him to the vet? or am i just being an over protective mommy?

cat's throw up sometimes. unless he makes a habt of it, I wouldn't worry.

well cats sometimes puke hairballs. if it gets out of hand you can give him food that helps prevent that or snacks that are formulated for it. hairballs sometimes get worse when they shed. brushing him might also help. monitor his mood and eating habits as well as the kitty litter box. you can always call the vet and ask.

Your kachito sounds precious! Is he long=haired or short haired?

This is prob'ly way more than you want to talk about cat puke, but...

did it look like thrown-up food, or did it look like a big gray nasty wet wad of lint. As you might guess, the latter is a "hairball." Cats can throw up pretty much at will, which is a handy skill if you've eaten something that might be poisonous. One of our cats Mxi, apparently likes to eat grass and then throw it up (ick!) She also sometimes just pigs out on her food and then throws up. (ick!)

If you cat is a long-hair, and if he seems to be throwing up hairballs, you might want to buy him something called hairball treatment (or petromalt), which is this stuff you feed him, so that the fur he gets in his tummy from cleaning himself doesn't sit in a big ball until he either throws it up or it blocks his intestine). Our long hair cat Nxi benefits from this stuff once a week or so. (mind you, the hairballs then pass out the other end--if he's long-haired and he lets you, then brush him often so that he doesn't get that hair in his tummy to begin with)
